新竹縣竹北市今（24）日因瓦斯加壓站設備異常，導致中正東路某社區大樓氣爆火警。不料湖口鄉傍晚也傳出瓦斯外洩，且濃度高達3700ppm。當瓦斯公司人員到場檢測後，卻表示「目前人員都在竹北搶修，無法趕過來」。前鄉代萬正英則緊急通知民眾，不要靠近現場，也別在附近使用火源。

湖口鄉中興村中興公園旁鐵騎橋，今日下午傳出濃濃瓦斯味，消防緊急到場戒備，並通報瓦斯公司到場檢測，發現洩漏點濃度高達3700ppm，確定為瓦斯外洩。不過檢測人員卻表示，因上午的竹北氣爆事件，目前人力都在竹北，無法馬上趕抵現場搶修，但會盡快調派可用人力過來。
對此，萬正英也轉達檢測人員說法，表示此次洩漏點為室外，暫無立即性危險，但仍請民眾不要靠近現場，更不要在附近使用任何火源。
